Domain name transfer

Log into your current registrar where your domain name is registered and do the following:

Make sure the domain name has been registered for at least 60 days, and has been at current registrar for at least 60 days.

·  Go to the website of your domain registrar; the company you purchased the domain name from.

·  Log into your customer account. You should have been given a username and password when you registered the domain.

·  Turn registrar lock "off" and save changes.

· Navigate to the authorization key (EPP Authorization Key) page and request a key. The location of the page varies from registrar to registrar, but you can often find it on the "Transfers" page or by clicking "Domain Details" from the customer page. You can usually choose to download the key immediately or have it emailed to you. Some less-advanced registrar may require you to contact the support desk to receive the key. Use this code to authorize the transfer of the domain to us.

·  **Do This?** More than one month before the domain name expiration date. When you transfer to us, the transfer cost is free.

EPP Authorization Key

EPP stands for Extensible Provision Protocol

The EPP key (Authorization code) is one of the safeguards against unauthorized transfers of domain name and it protects your rights as a domain owner. The EPP key is required when transferring .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info and .us domain names. It is not possible to initiate a domain name transfer for these domains without an EPP code.

Domain name lock/unlock

The Locked status of the domain name is one of the safeguards against unauthorized domain transfers and it protects your rights as a domain owner. However, you need to change the status from Locked  to unlocked, if you would like to initiate a domain name transfer. Remember, the transfer is free.
